Insider Tips

  • Tender timing matters. On busy summer days tenders can queue — get back to the harbor at least 30 minutes before the last tender is called.
  • 💵
Carry Turkish Lira. Most local shops, dolmuş, and smaller cafes only accept TRY. ATMs are available in Bozcaada Town but can run out in peak season.
  • 🍷
Book winery visits in advance. Corvus and Amadeus are small operations — walk-ins are possible but calling ahead (or booking via your ship's excursion desk) avoids disappointment.
  • 🚌
Dolmuş are your best friend. Seasonal minibuses run from the harbor to Ayazma Beach and Habbele Beach for a few lira — far cheaper than taxis for beach days.
  • 🏖
Northern Aegean = cooler water. Even in midsummer the sea is noticeably cooler here than the southern Aegean or Turkish Riviera — pack a wetsuit rash guard if you're a keen swimmer.

🚶 Walking

Free

The cruise pier lands you right at the edge of Bozcaada Town — the castle, main square, shops, and restaurants are all within easy walking distance. No transport needed for the town itself.

🚌 Dolmuş (Minibus)

~₺10–30 per ride (est. 2025)

Shared minibuses run seasonally (June–September) from the main square near the castle to popular beaches like Ayazma and Habbele. Cheap, frequent, and the easiest way to reach the coast.

🚕 Taxi

Metered (short rides ~₺50–150 est.)

Taxis wait at the harbor and can take you to beaches, vineyards, or anywhere on the island. Convenient but can be in demand during busy ship days — book early or ask your ship tour desk.

🛵 Scooter / Bike Rental

~₺300–600/day (est. 2025)

Renting a scooter or bicycle is a favorite way to explore the island at your own pace. Rental shops are near the harbor; the island is small enough to circle in a few hours.

🚗 Car Rental

Varies by provider

Small car rental agencies operate on the island. A good option for groups wanting flexibility to visit vineyards and remote beaches without relying on taxi availability.
