Insider Tips

  • 🧀
Hit the market early. The daily market on Place César Campinchi sells excellent Corsican charcuterie, brocciu cheese, and chestnut honey — arrive before 11 AM for the best selection.
  • 🚌
Buses are cheap and easy. Lines 5 and 8 stop right outside the terminal. Line 5 reaches Plage Trottel (beach) for €1.50 — far cheaper than a taxi.
  • 🌊
Beach tip: Plage Saint-François is the closest (10-min walk), but tiny and crowded. Plage Trottel (bus line 5) or Porticcio (ferry) are much better for a proper beach day.
  • 🎨
Don't skip Palais Fesch. Most cruisers go straight to Maison Bonaparte — the Fesch Museum has a dramatically better art collection and far shorter queues.
  • 🚕
Taxis for airport runs: Ajaccio–Napoléon Bonaparte Airport is 8 km east of town. If your ship is an overnight or you're extending your trip, taxis (~€25) and Line 8 bus both serve it.
