The most famous street in the Rheingau — 144 metres of half-timbered wine taverns, Riesling flights, live brass bands, and souvenir shops. Start with a Rüdesheimer Kaffee (brandy, flambéed sugar, coffee, cream) at Café Drosselgasse.
The Boppard Sesselbahn chairlift rises over the vineyards to the Vierseenblick (Four-Lakes Viewpoint), where the Rhine's tight horseshoe bend makes it look like four separate lakes. One of the most striking viewpoints on the entire Rhine.
Ride the modern gondola cable car over the Rhine from Deutsches Eck to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress — one of the largest preserved fortresses in Europe. The fortress offers sweeping views where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet.

One of the largest medieval castle ruins on the Rhine, Rheinfels Castle towers over the river at St. Goar. Explore the labyrinth of underground tunnels and trenches. Ships sometimes stop at St. Goar; otherwise accessible by local train from Boppard.

Rüdesheim Town & Drosselgasse Loop

From the pier, walk along the promenade to the Drosselgasse wine lane, then through the Marktplatz and back along Rheinstraße. The whole route is flat cobblestone — comfortable in any footwear.
Stroll south along the Boppard Rheinpromenade from the ship, past Roman fort remains (Kastell Boppard), the old town with St. Severus Church, and the chairlift station for Vierseenblick.
Walk from the cruise pier at the Deutsches Eck — where Rhine and Moselle meet under the giant equestrian statue — through the Altstadt to Jesuitenplatz and the Schängelbrünnchen fountain.
