Santorini has no cruise pier — every ship anchors in the caldera and tenders ashore. Since summer 2026 a new rule routes at least 70% of passengers to the Old Port of Fira, with a maximum 30% allowed at Athinios.
💡 Pro move: A €20-per-person cruise tourist fee is charged on arrival (introduced 2025, collected at tender landing). Have cash or a card ready. This is separate from cable car or excursion costs.
All ships tender — no berth exists. Under the 2026 policy, at least 70% of passengers use the Old Port of Fira; ship excursion passengers (up to 30%) may use Athinios where tour buses wait.

The main way up from the Old Port (Skala) to Fira — a 3–5 minute ride up the caldera cliffs. Queues can be very long when multiple ships are in port; arrive early.
All routes hub through Fira bus station. Take the cable car to Fira first, then buses connect to Oia, Perissa, Kamari, and other villages. Cash only, tickets bought on board.
Very limited supply (~35–40 island-wide); waits can be long especially when ships are in. The main tender port (Skala) has no road access — taxis only available from Fira upward.
Popular way to explore independently once you're up in Fira. Numerous rental shops near the cable car station offer ATVs and scooters for the day.
About 588 stone steps connect the Old Port to Fira — a 20–30 minute climb. Scenic but strenuous, especially in summer heat; not recommended with luggage.
