  • 2
Tender (smaller ships)Ships under ~1,200 passengers may be asked to anchor to free the berth for a larger vessel. Port tenders run frequently; a short ride brings you to the same waterfront area.

Into downtownWalk west along the waterfront boardwalk or up Great George Street. Downtown core — Queen Street, Richmond Street, Province House — is less than 400 m from the terminal.

Insider Tips

  • 🦞
Order the mussels and lobster roll — PEI's seafood is world-class. Water Prince Corner Shop (walkable from pier) is a local legend; arrive early as lines grow fast when ships are in.
  • 🚗
Book a car rental months in advance. Agencies in town are limited and sell out immediately when cruise ships are in port. No car? Book a shore excursion to reach Green Gables and the beaches.
  • 👟
Skip the white shoes. PEI's red iron-rich soil and red-sand beaches can permanently stain light-coloured footwear. Wear dark shoes if you plan on venturing off the pavement.
  • 🍦
COWS Ice Cream has a location right at Peake's Quay next to the ship — often voted Canada's best ice cream, with fresh-made waffle cones. Don't skip it.
  • 🧥
Dress in layers. Summer calls can be warm (27°C/80°F), but autumn calls (September–October) can turn breezy and cool. A windbreaker is always a good idea on the harbour.
