The village, fumaroles, mud baths, and black-sand beach are all within about 10 minutes of the Porto di Levante pier. The Gran Cratere trailhead is a further walk south on Via Provinciale.
Scooters, ATVs, and open-top Mehari-style buggies rent from shops at the port if you want the quieter south of the island beyond walking range.
Local boatmen at the pier run 1–2 hour trips to the Venus Pool and Horse Cave, and can drop you at coves you cannot walk to.
Liberty Lines hydrofoils connect Vulcano Porto with Lipari in about 10–15 minutes if you want a second island during a long call. Confirm the last return before you go.
CruiseMapper lists Porto Levante as the Po Delta river stop near Porto Viro, not Vulcano. This page is the Aeolian island; scheduled ship calls for Vulcano are uncommon and are not the Venice–Mantua river itineraries. Confirm any call with the cruise line.
