Insider Tips

  • 💶
Bring cash euros. Water taxis to Antipaxos, the local bus, and many beach tavernas are cash-only. Cards work in most Gaios shops and restaurants.
  • Go early for Antipaxos. Voutoumi and Vrika beaches fill up fast on summer days. Catch the first taxi boat from Gaios harbor and leave no later than 2 hours before your ship's departure.
  • 🚕
Taxis are scarce. The whole island has roughly 5–10 taxis. If you need one to reach Lakka or Tripitos, ask at the waterfront stand early or pre-arrange through your ship's excursions desk.
  • 👟
Water shoes are essential. Almost every beach on Paxos is pebbly, with slippery rocks at the waterline. Pack them in your day bag.
  • 🕑
Siesta shuts shops. Many local businesses in Gaios close from around 2 PM to 5:30 PM. Do your souvenir shopping in the morning.
