History

Saint-Pierre Church

Dating from the 11th, 12th, and 15th centuries, this Romanesque church was fortified during the French Wars of Religion and uniquely served both Protestant and Catholic congregations simultaneously. Its 12th-century tympanum depicting the Ascension of Christ is carved in white stone — a striking contrast against the red sandstone walls.
