The end of the world, earned. Cape Horn is less a port than a pilgrimage — ships sail past this legendary headland where the Atlantic meets the Pacific, and on rare calm days, expedition passengers land by Zodiac to stand at the very bottom of the Americas.
Cape Horn has no cruise terminal or tender dock — landings are made by Zodiac (inflatable dinghy) from the ship, and only expedition-style vessels offer them.
💡 Pro move: Landings are called off with very little notice if conditions deteriorate. Dress for wind, cold, and possible rain regardless of the forecast — conditions change fast at the Horn.

Cape Horn itself has just one 'excursion' — the island landing — but the surrounding waters and nearby ports offer world-class wildlife and landscape experiences.
When conditions allow, step ashore on Hornos Island, climb to the plateau, and visit the steel albatross monument erected in 1992 as a memorial to thousands of mariners lost rounding the Cape. The Chilean Navy family stationed here often greet visitors.
The Cape Horn Lighthouse (Faro de Cabo de Hornos) is a working Chilean Naval station. Adjacent is the tiny Stella Maris Chapel, considered the southernmost church in South America — a moving place to reflect on the mariners who perished here.
The waters around Cape Horn are exceptional for wildlife. Black-browed albatrosses soar on the gales, while humpback and orca whales, Magellanic penguins, sea lions, and giant petrels are regularly spotted from the ship's deck.
Many itineraries combine Cape Horn with transit through the Beagle Channel and Glacier Alley, where a parade of glaciers calves into the sea. Best viewed from deck with binoculars.

Walking at Cape Horn is limited to the single path from the Zodiac landing beach up to the monument plateau — there are no roads or village to explore.
From the Zodiac landing on the northeast beach, wooden boardwalks and stairs climb steeply to the plateau. The path leads past the lighthouse and chapel to the iconic steel albatross monument at the clifftop. The view south to open ocean is staggering.

Ships anchor offshore and ferry passengers to the rocky shore by Zodiac inflatable or tender. This is the only way to reach the cape — weather and sea conditions permitting.
