Cruise ships dock at Port of Adria, a working commercial port about 1.5 km from the city. Walking out independently is not permitted — use the port shuttle.

Stari Bar Ruins Walk

Once you taxi to Stari Bar (€5–8), explore the 16-hectare ruined town on your own. Wander the cobbled lanes past the Cathedral of St. George, the Church of St. Veneranda, and the Ottoman hammam. The Bar Aqueduct's 17 stone arches are visible from the access road.

    Take the free port shuttle. You cannot walk from the cruise berth to town — the industrial port area restricts pedestrian access. The shuttle drops you right by King Nikola's Palace.

    Taxis are your friend. Agree on a fare upfront. Stari Bar is around €5-8 each way. For Budva or Kotor, budget €25-35 one-way — negotiate a round-trip deal.

    Euro only. Montenegro uses the euro without being in the EU. ATMs are available in the city centre near King Nikola's Palace. Cards accepted in most restaurants and larger shops.

    See the Old Olive Tree. The Stara Maslina near Stari Bar is reputedly 2,200+ years old — one of the oldest in Europe. It's a quick detour if you're visiting the ruins.
