Insider Tips

  • 🚲
Respect the bike lanes. Red-paved lanes are for cyclists only — they have right of way and move fast. Step out and you'll get a bell in your ear, at minimum.
  • 🕐
Sunday = no shopping. Retail shops close on Sundays in Germany. Museums, restaurants, and cafes stay open — plan accordingly.
  • 💶
Carry some cash. Cards are widely accepted, but smaller bakeries, historic pubs, and market stalls often prefer cash.
  • 🍺
Try Pinkus Alt. Münster's own organic Pinkus Müller brewery makes the local Altbier — the historic tavern Altes Gasthaus Leve (since 1607) is the classic spot for a glass.
  • 🏛
Friedenssaal is worth the €2. The wood-paneled Hall of Peace in the Historic Town Hall is one of Europe's most significant rooms — where the Thirty Years' War ended.
