Insider Tips

  • Portofino ferry is the best value: €16 round trip for 15 minutes of stunning coastal scenery — better views than the road approach. Buy tickets at the harbor kiosk; no need to pre-book.
  • 🍞
Eat focaccia immediately: Ligurian focaccia is best warm from the oven. Grab a slice at a panificio (bakery) near the harbor for €1–2. Try Focaccia di Recco if you see it.
  • 🚌
Bus Line 782 to Paraggi/Portofino: Cheap and runs every 15–30 min, but gets very crowded in peak summer. Buy tickets at a tabacchi before boarding.
  • Watch last tender times: Tender ports have firm cutoffs. Note your ship's all-aboard time, and if visiting Portofino allow extra buffer — ferries run roughly hourly.
  • 💶
Cash useful for small buys: Cards are widely accepted at restaurants, but small bakeries, bus tickets, and market vendors prefer cash. ATMs are plentiful near the harbor.
