Insider Tips

  • 👟
Pack water shoes. Every beach in Rabac is pebble — bare feet are painful on entry. Water shoes are the single most important item you can bring ashore.
  • 🚕
Taxi to Labin costs ~€10–15 and takes 10 minutes. Don't walk the road — it has no pedestrian path and steep blind bends. The local bus is also good at ~€2–3 each way.
  • 💶
Euro is the currency. Cards are accepted at most restaurants and shops, but carry a little cash for beach chairs, the tourist train, and small cafes.
  • 🍝
Eat Istrian food. Rabac is prime truffle and scampi territory. Fuži pasta with black truffle sauce and Kvarner langoustines are the regional stars — don't leave without trying both.
  • 🚂
Mini tourist train runs along the promenade in summer, connecting the harbor to Maslinica and Girandella beaches for a couple of Euros — handy in the heat.
