Insider Tips

  • 🏰
Book St Michael's Mount early. National Trust entry sells out on cruise days. Check tide times — the causeway walk is only open for 3–4 hours around low tide, otherwise take the boat ferry from Marazion beach.
  • 🌦️
Layer up. West Cornwall weather can flip from sunny to squally in an hour. A compact waterproof jacket is worth every gram.
  • 🥧
Eat a proper Cornish pasty. Look for a local bakery — beef, potato, swede, onion in crimped shortcrust. In Cornwall, jam goes on the scone first, then the clotted cream (not the Devon way round).
  • 🚕
Pre-book taxis. Local cab supply is limited on busy cruise days. If you're planning the Minack Theatre or Porthcurno, call ahead the day before.
  • 💳
Contactless cards accepted everywhere. Most cafés, shops, and attractions accept Visa/Mastercard tap. Keep a few pounds coins for public toilets.
