Insider Tips

  • 🚕
Book taxis in advance. Pembrokeshire is rural and taxis are limited. If you want to reach Tenby, St Davids, or outlying beaches, arrange transport before arriving or through your ship.
  • 🚂
Trains to Tenby are sparse — only about 9 a day (roughly every 3–4 hours) — check the schedule before leaving the ship. Missing a train means a long wait or an expensive taxi back.
  • 🌦️
Bring a waterproof jacket. Welsh weather is famously changeable. Even sunny mornings can turn wet fast — layering is essential year-round.
  • 💷
Cards are accepted almost everywhere — pubs, buses, market stalls. GBP cash is handy but not essential. ATMs are in Pembroke Dock town center.
  • 🏰
Pembroke Castle vs. Pembroke Dock — these are two different places. The famous castle is in Pembroke Town, 2 miles from the port. Don't expect to walk out and see it from the pier.
