Insider Tips

  • 🎟
Book Scrovegni Chapel well in advance. Timed entry slots sell out weeks or months ahead. No walk-in tickets are available. This is non-negotiable.
  • 📅
Check the day of the week. Many museums (Palazzo della Ragione, Palazzo Bo anatomical theater) are closed on Mondays. Plan accordingly.
  • 🚂
The train is your best friend. From Venice Mestre, trains to Padua run every 10–15 minutes, take 20 minutes, and cost €4–10. Far cheaper and often faster than a coach excursion.
  • 🍹
Order a Spritz in its birthplace. Aperol was launched at the Padua International Exhibition in 1919. A local Spritz costs €3–4 — a fraction of what you'd pay in Venice.
  • 👗
Cover up for the Basilica. Bare shoulders and shorts are not allowed inside the Basilica of Saint Anthony. Scarves or sarongs (sold nearby) sort this quickly.
