Insider Tips

  • 👟
Wear sturdy footwear. The stone steps and fortress paths are steep and can be slippery even when dry. Sandals are fine for the beach, but not for the fortresses.
  • 💶
Cash is handy. Croatia uses the Euro. ATMs are in the town center. Small vendors (market, fortress entry) may prefer cash over card.
  • 🎯
Book the zipline in advance. ZipLine Croatia is popular and sells out fast in summer. Slots are limited and can't be booked on the pier.
  • 🍽️
Try soparnik. This chard-and-garlic pastry holds EU Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and is traditional to the Omiš/Poljica area. Buy slices at the green market near the bridge — cheap, filling, and delicious.
  • 🌬️
Expect a breeze. The Cetina canyon acts as a wind tunnel. Even on hot days, a refreshing cool wind blows through town — great for walking, less ideal for sunbathing on the beach.
