Perched at the end of Sørfjorden beneath glaciers and orchard-covered hillsides, Odda trades its industrial past for world-class fjord adventures — and the pier drops you right in the middle of it all.
Smaller cruise ships dock at the Odda Cruise Quay (Almerket) right in the town center; larger vessels anchor in the fjord and tender passengers to the same quay.
💡 Pro move: On Sundays most retail shops close, but cafes and souvenir shops typically open for cruise passengers.
Odda's central quay puts the town — and onward buses — within minutes of disembarkation.

Odda is the adventure gateway to Hardangerfjord — from manageable glacier walks to the legendary (and grueling) Trolltunga.
The best full-day option for most cruise passengers. A 3–4 hour round-trip leads to the snout of an arm of the Folgefonna Glacier, crossing suspension bridges and rope-assisted rocky sections. Stunning and achievable without extreme fitness.
Find Buer Glacier tours →One of Norway's most iconic viewpoints — a tongue of rock jutting over Ringedalsvatnet lake 700 m below. The full hike is 20–28 km and takes 8–12 hours. Only attempt this if the ship is in port 12+ hours and you are in strong physical shape. Pre-book shuttles to the P2/P3 trailhead.
Find Trolltunga guided tours →Speed across the Sørfjorden on a rigid inflatable boat to see steep mountainsides, working orchards, and cascading waterfalls from the water. Great for those who want fjord drama without a full-day hike.
Find RIB safari tours →Located 6 km north in Tyssedal, this spectacular power station carved into the fjord-side tells how glacier meltwater was turned into electricity to power Odda's carbide factories. An engineering and architectural marvel.
Book Kraftmuseet tickets →Norway's famous twin waterfall thunders under a historic stone bridge on Route 13, about 16 km south of Odda. Combine it with a scenic valley drive past Tjørnadalsfossen and Vidfoss — all visible from the road.
Book a valley tour →The Hardanger region is Norway's orchard heartland, producing geographically-protected apple cider. Several local spots in Odda and nearby offer tasting sessions — pair with Norwegian waffles and brunost for a genuine taste of the region.
Find Hardanger food tours →The compact town center and the riverside industrial heritage area are both easy strolls from the pier.
From the pier, walk the flat pedestrian street (Gågata) to the town center, then loop to the Smelteverket industrial ruins — skeletal steel frames of the old carbide factory framed against glacier peaks. Finish at Odda Church (1870).
🗺️ See full route in Maps →Head south from the pier along the fjord road to Sandvinvatnet, a clear mountain lake where locals swim in summer. The path follows the water's edge with views back toward the glacier-topped peaks above town.
