Insider Tips

  • 💳
Forget cash. Norway is effectively cashless — Visa/Mastercard accepted at every café, museum, and taxi. You do not need NOK.
  • 🌧
Pack layers and rain gear. Central Norway weather is unpredictable even in summer. A windproof jacket is essential, not optional.
  • 🎸
Rock City is worth the admission. The interactive exhibits are genuinely fun and the story of a small Norwegian town becoming a rock-music capital is more compelling than it sounds.
  • 🏪
If visiting on Sunday, retail shops and supermarkets close by Norwegian law. Museums, restaurants, and outdoor attractions stay open.
  • 🚕
Taxis are expensive. Share with other passengers for the Spillum sawmill run (~5 km). The town centre itself needs no transport.
