    Pack a layer. Lake Michigan creates a microclimate — even in summer, a lake breeze can drop temperatures 10–15°F below inland forecasts. A light windbreaker lives in your day bag.

    Use the Port City Trolley for the beach. Pere Marquette is 4 miles out — too far to walk. The seasonal trolley connects dock, downtown, and beach for about $1. Check the schedule when you arrive.
  • ⚓
    Start with USS Silversides. Lines build later in the day. Head there first — it's a short walk from the dock along the channel — and save downtown for the afternoon.
  • 🍔
    Hamburger Mikey takes 15–20 minutes. This local favorite hand-patties every burger to order, so expect a short wait. Order ahead online or scan the door barcode to save time.
  • 🚲
    Rent an e-bike. The Lakeshore Trail runs 12 miles and connects the dock straight to the beach. E-bike rentals are available downtown and make for a fun way to see the whole waterfront.
