Home to barely 300 residents and no ATMs, no traffic lights, and no cruise pier — Mayreau is the Grenadines at its most unspoiled. The reward for tendering ashore is some of the Caribbean's most beautiful beaches and a short boat ride from world-class snorkeling with sea turtles.
All ships tender to Mayreau — there is no cruise pier, so plan for 10–15 minutes each way on the ship's tender.
💡 Pro move: Mayreau has no ATMs. Bring USD cash for everything — vendors, food, shuttles, and beach bars.
Mayreau has no deep-water cruise pier; all ships anchor and tender passengers ashore to the Saline Bay jetty.
| Cruise Line | Typical Berth / Arrival | Dock or Tender |
|---|---|---|
| Small luxury lines (Seabourn, Silversea, Windstar, SeaDream, Star Clippers, PONANT, Emerald) | Anchor in Saline Bay; tender to Saline Bay jetty📍 | Tendered |
| Expedition & sailing ships | May anchor closer to Salt Whistle Bay; small launches to beach📍 | Tendered |
Mayreau's highlights are its own pristine beaches — but the real showstopper excursion is a short boat trip to the Tobago Cays Marine Park next door.
The uninhabited Tobago Cays are a UNESCO-protected marine park and the top reason many lines include Mayreau on their itineraries. Crystal-clear shallow water, reef, stingrays, and green sea turtles — regularly described as the best snorkeling in the Eastern Caribbean.
Find Tobago Cays snorkel tours →A double-sided beach — powdery white sand curving between the calm Caribbean Sea and the windward Atlantic, fringed by coconut palms. Consistently ranked one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Kayak and SUP rentals available.
Find Mayreau beach excursions →A cross-island walk along the one concrete road takes you up through the hilltop village of Old Wall, past the historic church, and down to Salt Whistle Bay — with sweeping ocean views in both directions from the ridge.
Find Mayreau walking tours →Climb to the hilltop village on Station Hill, site of the stone Church of the Immaculate Conception (consecrated 1930). The church was destroyed by Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 and is being rebuilt, but the hilltop churchyard still offers a jaw-dropping panoramic view over the Tobago Cays, Canouan, and Union Island — one of the most dramatic vistas in the Grenadines.
Find Mayreau village tours →Dennis' Hideaway, perched on the hill overlooking Saline Bay, is a Mayreau institution — island hospitality, strong rum punches, fresh grilled lobster and conch in season. An easy stop near the tender landing.
Find Mayreau dining experiences →Mayreau is small and walkable, but one steep concrete road links everything — sturdy shoes beat sandals for the climbs.
From the tender jetty at Saline Bay, follow the single concrete road uphill to the hilltop village on Station Hill. The Church of the Immaculate Conception sits at the crest — damaged by Hurricane Beryl in 2024 and under reconstruction — and its churchyard offers a stunning overlook of the Tobago Cays to the east.
Continue from the church downhill on the west side to reach Salt Whistle Bay — the island's crown jewel double-sided beach. Return by the same road or pay $5–10 for a local shuttle truck ride back to Saline Bay in time for tender.
