One of the world's most remote cruise stops, Majuro is a razor-thin coral atoll where the Pacific crashes one side and a turquoise lagoon shimmers on the other — raw, authentic, and utterly unlike anywhere else.
Most cruise ships anchor in Majuro Lagoon and tender passengers to the Uliga Dock, which puts you steps from the town center.
💡 Pro move: The Marshall Islands are devoutly religious. If your ship calls on a Sunday, most shops and markets will be closed, though hotel restaurants and pre-booked excursions still operate.
Majuro has two main landing points; which you use depends on your ship size.
| Cruise Line | Typical Berth / Arrival | Dock or Tender |
|---|---|---|
| Most cruise lines (medium & large ships) | Uliga Dock, near Marshall Islands Resort📍 | Tendered |
| Expedition & smaller ships | Delap Dock (commercial port)📍 | Docked |
Majuro's highlights span remote island escapes, WWII underwater history, and genuine Micronesian culture — most require a short boat ride or taxi.
A 30-minute boat ride across the lagoon brings you to this postcard-perfect private islet — white sand, crystal water, excellent snorkeling right off the beach, and basic amenities. The quintessential Marshall Islands experience.
Find Eneko Island tours →The Marshall Islands hold some of the Pacific's most dramatic WWII wreck diving — including submerged plane wrecks in the lagoon. Snorkelers can access shallower sites; divers can explore deeper wrecks with local operators.
Find wreck diving tours →The Alele Museum is the cultural heart of the Marshall Islands, housing traditional stick-chart navigation artifacts, WWII exhibits, and Marshallese weaving. Combine with a walk along the main road through Delap-Uliga-Darrit to see daily atoll life.
Find Majuro cultural tours →The lush, agricultural tip of the atoll, 30 miles from town. Japanese coastal guns and WWII relics dot the shore, and Laura Beach is Majuro's best swimming beach. Hire a taxi for the half-day round trip.
Find Laura Beach excursions →Sail ~15 miles to the neighboring Arno Atoll for pristine beaches, snorkeling with turtles and parrotfish, spinner dolphin sightings, and traditional line fishing in an unspoiled Pacific setting.
Find Arno Atoll sailing tours →Paddle through quiet mangrove channels where herons roost and juvenile reef sharks cruise the shallows. A peaceful way to see a side of Majuro most visitors miss entirely.
Find kayaking tours →Majuro's single paved road runs the length of the thin atoll — it's a natural walking corridor between the lagoon and the open ocean.
From the Uliga tender dock, walk the main road past the Marshall Islands Resort, local shops, and the Cathedral of the Assumption. The Alele Museum is about 10 minutes on foot.
At Jeirok near the airport, the atoll narrows to just a few dozen meters. Stand in the middle of the road and look left (crashing Pacific surf) then right (calm lagoon turquoise) — one of the most striking geographic moments in the Pacific.
