Insider Tips

  • 💳
Leave cash at home. Norway is near-cashless — cards (Visa/Mastercard) work everywhere, including tiny cafés and market stalls.
  • 🧥
Layer up even in summer. Arctic weather changes fast. Bring a windproof and waterproof outer layer even on sunny days — the summit winds on Lyngentrappa are fierce.
  • 🌞
Midnight Sun (May–July). The sun doesn't set, which means phenomenal evening light for photography — but bring a sleep mask if you plan to rest on board.
  • 🦌
Watch for reindeer. Sámi-owned reindeer roam freely near the village; you may spot them on hillsides or even near the road heading to the distillery.
  • 🚢
Confirm tender vs. docked with your ship before arrival — the method depends on vessel size and conditions on the day.
