Insider Tips

  • 🧥
Layer up, every time. Weather at the tip of Newfoundland changes fast — sunshine can flip to fog and 5°C in an hour. Windproof jacket, warm hat, and waterproof boots are essential even in summer.
  • 🚌
Sort transport before you tender. If your ship anchors in St. Anthony, the shuttle bus fills quickly. Book the ship excursion or arrange a taxi in advance — there is no public transit and very few taxis in the area.
  • 📅
Best months: June–August. June and July are prime iceberg season. August is warmest and least foggy. Outside these months, many local attractions and the Norseman Restaurant may be closed.
  • 🍽️
Reserve the Norseman Restaurant. It is the best meal on the peninsula and gets packed on cruise days. Try the bakeapple cheesecake and fresh-caught cod.
  • 🛍️
Stop at the Dark Tickle Company in Griquet (on the road from St. Anthony) for free samples and jams made from cloudberries, partridgeberries, and wild blueberries — unique Newfoundland flavors you won't find elsewhere.
