Insider Tips

  • 🧊
Iceberg season peaks June–July. If your ship calls in this window, scan the bay on arrival — bergs can drift within sight of the wharves.
  • 📵
No cell service on the island. Download offline maps before you go. Free Wi-Fi is available at The Loft pub if you need to check in.
  • 🥾
Wear sturdy shoes. The island has no paved surfaces — boardwalks, bare rock, and gravel paths are the norm. Flip flops will get you nowhere.
  • 💰
Bring some Canadian cash. The island store and pub may not have reliable card payment. CAD is the currency; nearest ATM is in Mary's Harbour on the mainland.
  • 🧥
Layer up even in summer. Labrador coastal weather is unpredictable — fog, wind, and cold snaps are common even in July. A windproof shell is essential.
