Insider Tips

  • 💳
Cards work everywhere. Brazil is nearly cashless — Visa/Mastercard accepted even at beach kiosks and Uber. Bring a small amount of Reais for tips or market stalls, but you won't need much.
  • 🚗
Uber over taxis. Uber is reliable, cheap, and metered — no fare negotiation needed. It's the safest, easiest way to reach Balneário Camboriú, Praia Brava, or the Molhe jetty.
  • 🎢
Buy Unipraias tickets online. The Parque Unipraias cable car sells out on cruise days. Buy tickets in advance at unipraias.com.br or ask your excursion desk to book ahead.
  • 🌧️
Afternoon showers are common in summer (Dec–Mar). Plan outdoor activities in the morning and beach time early — the weather usually clears quickly.
  • 🦐
Order the shrimp sequência at any restaurant in the Mercado Público. It's a set multi-course shrimp feast — grilled, fried, buttered — and costs about R$60–80 per person. One of the best meals you'll have on a Brazil itinerary.
