Casablanca's brand-new cruise terminal (inaugurated September 2025, operated by Global Ports Holding from January 2026) sits at Jetée Moulay Youssef — about 1 km from the city center, much closer than the old industrial berth.
💡 Pro move: Casablanca is a working metropolis — gritty in parts, rewarding in others. The Hassan II Mosque is the undisputed highlight. A guide helps enormously in the medina and Habous Quarter, reducing hassle and unlocking context.
Since January 2026 all cruise ships use the new Global Ports Holding terminal at Jetée Moulay Youssef — about 1 km from the city center with three boarding bridges and coach parking.

Casablanca's headline sight is unmissable, but the Art Deco city, the Habous market quarter, and nearby Rabat all reward your hours ashore.
One of the world's largest mosques, with a 210-metre minaret visible from the sea and sections of the prayer hall built out over the Atlantic. Non-Muslims may only enter on an official guided tour (Sat–Thu 9am–3pm, ~130–140 MAD). Covers the prayer hall, ablution halls, and the subterranean hammam. Arrive 30–45 mins early; tickets sold on-site only.
Find mosque tours →Casablanca's French colonial architects blended Art Deco with Moorish arches in the 1930s to create a distinctive 'Mauresque' style. Mohammed V Square is the civic centrepiece — palm-lined, fountained, and ringed by handsome administrative buildings. Combine with a drive along the broad Hassan II Boulevard.
Find city tours →Built by the French in the 1930s to relieve overcrowding, the Habous Quarter is a planned medina — orderly lanes of honey-coloured arches, pastry shops selling msemen and cornes de gazelle, spice stalls, and leather goods. Less hectic than the old medina and genuinely charming. The Mahkama du Pacha courthouse (exterior) is worth a look.
Find guided tours →Morocco's elegant capital is ~1 hr by train (Casa-Port → Rabat-Agdal) and a world away from Casablanca's bustle. Highlights: the Hassan Tower and Mohammed V Mausoleum, the ancient Chellah necropolis, and the Kasbah of the Udayas perched above the Bou Regreg river. Book a guide on arrival or pre-arrange.
Find Rabat day tours →The Atlantic seafront west of the Hassan II Mosque — a long promenade of cafés, the El Hank lighthouse, and crashing waves. A relaxed escape from the city that pairs naturally with a post-mosque coffee. Beachside restaurants serve grilled fish and Moroccan mint tea.
Find local tours →Casablanca's restaurant scene spans the excellent: Habous patisseries for pastries and mint tea; the Central Market (Marché Central) for fresh produce and cheap eats; and Rick's Café — the recreation of the Casablanca film bar, opened 2004, now a genuine Casablanca institution with good Moroccan-French food and live piano.
Find food tours →The new terminal puts you about 1 km from the city — most of the best walking is a short taxi away, but these routes reward shoe-leather once you're there.
Start at Mohammed V Square to take in the Art Deco civic buildings, then walk south through the new town's broad avenues to the honey-arched lanes of the Habous Quarter. Stop for a cornet de gazelle (pastry) and mint tea en route.
