Insider Tips

  • Tender timing is critical. Return to the pier 45–60 minutes before the last tender — afternoon queues grow fast, especially in summer.
  • 🌡️
Cyprus is HOT in summer. The Archaeological Park has almost no shade. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and at least 1 liter of water.
  • 🚌
Local buses are cheap and reliable. The harbor bus station (5-min walk from the pier) runs routes 610 (Old Town), 615 (Tombs of the Kings, Coral Bay). Tickets €1.50 cash to driver.
  • 💶
Cash useful for small purchases. Cards accepted everywhere except small buses and market stalls. ATMs are plentiful near the harbor.
  • 🧀
Eat halloumi and meze. Grilled halloumi, souvlaki, and sheftalia are the local staples. For authentic prices, head uphill to Ktima Old Town rather than harbor-front tourist tavernas.
