One of the most dramatic harbor arrivals in the South Pacific — emerald cliffs plunging into deep blue water, a living Polynesian culture, and the only US National Park south of the equator.
Ships dock at the Multiuse Wharf in Pago Pago Harbor — you walk straight off the gangway into downtown Fagatogo.
💡 Pro move: No dedicated cruise terminal building currently (demolished 2022; new one under construction). A small welcome area greets ships at the pier gate.
Cruise ships dock at the Multiuse Wharf in the deep natural harbor — one of the finest natural harbors in the South Pacific.

From rainforest hikes with WWII history to pristine snorkel beaches and immersive village life — Pago Pago punches well above its size.
The only US National Park south of the equator. The Blunts Point Trail from the harbor leads to WWII coastal defense guns and panoramic views. Mount Alava offers a more strenuous ridge walk above the harbor.
Find hiking tours →Explore 650+ artifacts of Samoan history including ancient woven mats, traditional canoes, and the American Samoa flag that flew to the moon on Apollo 11. Free to enter, right in downtown Fagatogo.
Find cultural tours →Despite the name, entry is $5 USD. A short taxi ride east of the pier delivers you to white sand, clear water, and good snorkeling. Basic bar and facilities on site.
Find beach excursions →A legendary South Pacific beach bar at Alega Beach. Tisa cooks traditional food in an umu (earth oven) right on the beach. Try palusami (taro leaves in coconut cream) and oka (Samoan raw fish). Book ahead on cruise days.
Find food & beach tours →Circle Tutuila's stunning coastline past villages, through the National Park, and to Fatu-ma-Futi (Flowerpot Rock), the dramatic volcanic islet guarding the harbor entrance. A live narrated aiga bus tour is the most fun way to go.
Find island tours →A manageable 1–2 hour hike from the harbor up to preserved WWII US Pacific defense artillery emplacements, with sweeping harbor views that make the climb worthwhile.
Find history tours →Most of downtown Fagatogo is walkable from the pier in minutes — the market, museum, and harbor road are an easy self-guided half-day.
From the Multiuse Wharf, walk along the harbor road past the Fagatogo Market, the Historic District, and the Jean P. Haydon Museum, then loop back along the bay. Pick up a fresh coconut or panikeke (Samoan pancake) from market stalls.
Walk west along the harbor road to Utulei beach and Sadie's by the Sea. It's the closest swimming spot to the ship — calm water, kayak rentals, and a waterfront restaurant for lunch.
