Ships dock directly at Motobu Port pier — no tender required. The port is modern and well-organized.
💡 Pro move: The pier area has limited facilities — head straight to Ocean Expo Park for amenities, restaurants, and restrooms.

Most visitors make a beeline for Churaumi Aquarium, but the Motobu Peninsula rewards those who explore further.
One of Japan's finest aquariums, headlined by the enormous Kuroshio Tank where whale sharks and manta rays glide past an acrylic wall 8.2m high. Daily feeding shows are unmissable. Ocean Expo Park entry is free; aquarium admission is ¥2,180 adults.
Find Churaumi Aquarium tours →The free park surrounding the aquarium spans 3km of coastline. Emerald Beach is a calm, clear swimming beach. Also here: manatee and sea turtle pools, the Native Okinawan Village open-air museum, and the Tropical Dream Center botanical garden.
Find Ocean Expo Park tours →A 1km lane in Bise village, just north of Ocean Expo Park, shaded by ancient fukugi trees. Renting a bicycle here and pedaling to the sea-view seawall is a quintessential Okinawan half-hour escape.
Find Bise Village cycling tours →Connected to the mainland by a striking 2km bridge (the 1,960m Kouri Bridge), Kouri Island has a beautiful beach, the Kouri Ocean Tower for panoramic views, and the Heart Rock — a famously photogenic Instagrammable formation.
Find Kouri Island tours →Nago city, about 20 minutes southeast of Motobu, has excellent local restaurants serving champuru stir-fries, Okinawa soba, umi-budo sea grapes, and agū black pork. The Orion Brewery is also in Nago for cold local lager.
Find Okinawa food tours →Cross the bridge to Sesoko Island for a quieter Okinawan experience. Small forest cafés tucked in tropical gardens, hammocks, wood-fired pizzas, and fresh fruit juice — a world away from the aquarium crowds.
Find Sesoko Island tours →The aquarium area and Bise village are the most walkable spots; Motobu port itself is a transit point rather than a strolling destination.
Starting at the entrance to Bise village, walk the shaded lane of ancient fukugi trees to the coastal seawall for ocean views toward Sesoko Island.
🗺️ See full route in Maps →Wander the free park from the Oceanic Culture Museum along the shoreline to Emerald Beach, passing sea turtle pools and the Native Okinawan Village before looping back.
