Insider Tips

  • 🚢
You can't walk to the Kennedy Compound. It's in private Hyannis Port, blocked to the public. The only view is from the water — book a harbor cruise or watch from your ship.
  • ⛴️
Ferry to Nantucket is tempting but risky. Only attempt it if your ship gives you 6+ hours ashore and you confirm tender/last-return times. Missing the last tender is a real risk.
  • 🧥
Dress in layers. Cape Cod weather shifts fast — a sunny 75°F day on Main Street can feel like 62°F and windy on the harbor. A windbreaker is not optional.
  • 🦞
Get the lobster roll. The Black Cat Tavern on Ocean Street and multiple Main Street spots do excellent Cape Cod-style lobster rolls. Budget $20-30.
  • 🚌
Seasonal trolley is free (or nearly so). The CCRTA open-air trolley runs Main Street to the beaches late June through Labor Day. If you're here mid-summer, use it for Kalmus Beach.
