You must take a taxi. The industrial port is 10 miles from everything. Shared van taxis are plentiful and government-regulated — confirm the rate before you board. Round-trip to Port Lucaya is ~$15–20/person.

No currency exchange needed. US dollars are accepted everywhere at 1:1. Bring small bills for taxis, straw markets, and beach vendors.

Gold Rock Beach depends on the tide. At low tide it's spectacular — at high tide the sand nearly disappears. Check tide charts before committing to the Lucayan National Park tour.

Eat the conch. Tony Macaroni's at Taino Beach is an island institution. Conch salad (raw, cured in citrus) is the authentic Bahamian experience — don't leave without trying it.

Allow 45 min to return. Traffic is usually light, but taxi dispatch at Port Lucaya can take time. Don't cut it close — the pier is not walking distance.
