From the pier, walk along the waterfront to the Prinsens Port gate, climb the grass ramparts, follow the top of the earthworks to the north gate, descend and cut through the grid to Gothersgade for coffee or smørrebrød.
Head south along the waterfront from the pier past the Kastellet ruins to reach Østerstrand beach. The circular wooden jetty Den Runde Bro is the landmark — ideal for a swim or a sit in the sun.
