    Disembark at Grand Cruise TerminalThe terminal is on the Doha Corniche, about 2 km from the city centre. Facilities include duty-free, cafes, WiFi, and an aquarium in the arrivals hall.

    On foot or by taxiThe Corniche promenade begins right outside the terminal — walk it north toward downtown. Taxis and Uber/Careem are plentiful at the terminal exit; rides to Souq Waqif run 15–25 QAR (~$4–7).

    Metro optionDoha Metro's Gold Line runs near the port — National Museum and Souq Waqif stations are each about a 20–25 min walk (or a short taxi hop) — and links onward to Msheireb interchange and beyond. Day passes are inexpensive.

💡 Pro move: Qatar is a conservative Muslim country. Dress modestly — cover shoulders and knees in public areas and souqs. Alcohol is not available outside licensed hotel venues.

Self-Guided Walks & Hikes

Doha's Corniche is one of the Gulf's great waterfront promenades — flat, scenic, and easily walkable from the terminal.

Corniche Waterfront Walk

2.5 km one-way · Flat · 30-45 min

Exit the terminal and head north along the Corniche promenade. The walkway hugs Doha Bay with unbroken views of the West Bay skyline across the water. Pass the Museum of Islamic Art Park — a great picnic spot — and continue to the traditional dhow harbour at the old fishing pier.

    Dress modestly — cover shoulders and knees in public spaces, souqs, and museums. Swimwear stays at the beach. Locals appreciate the respect.

    Heat is serious — from May to September, temperatures hit 40°C+ (104°F+). Drink water constantly, wear a hat, and limit midday outdoor time. Nov–April is ideal.

    Currency & payments — Qatari Riyal (QAR; 1 USD ≈ 3.64 QAR). ATMs are available in the terminal and throughout the city. USD and cards accepted widely.

    Taxis & Uber — Uber and Careem apps work well and are cheaper than metered taxis. The Doha Metro is clean and cheap; buy a tourist card at any station.

    Eat at Souq Waqif — the cluster of restaurants around the main square serves excellent Qatari machboos (spiced rice & meat) and fresh juices at very reasonable prices.

🚗 Ride-share: ✅ UberUber is officially licensed and widely used in Doha. Careem ceased Qatar operations in 2023. App-based booking; pick-up typically near terminal exit.

Dohabus hop-on hop-off departs from the cruise terminal. 24-hour ticket includes audio guide and a complimentary night tour.

🚕 Karwa Taxi

QAR 13–18 (~$4–5)

Official metered taxis queue outside the terminal. Fare to Souq Waqif or Museum of Islamic Art takes 15–20 minutes; base fare QAR 7 plus QAR 1.6/km.

📱 Uber

QAR 15–25 (~$4–7)

Uber operates legally throughout Doha. Book via app for transparent pricing; pick up near the terminal entrance.
