Crocosaurus Cove — Cage of Death
Right in the Darwin CBD, Crocosaurus Cove lets you descend into a perspex cage surrounded by massive saltwater crocodiles. The 'Cage of Death' is one of the most visceral wildlife experiences in Australia — and it's walkable from the wharf.
Darwin was bombed more times than Pearl Harbor. Walk through the massive WWII oil storage tunnels near the waterfront, then visit the Defence of Darwin Experience for the full story of the 1942 attacks.
Darwin's excellent free museum houses the preserved wreck of Sweetheart (a famous 5-metre problem croc), the haunting Cyclone Tracy exhibit, and a world-class Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection.
About 100 km south of Darwin, Litchfield delivers spectacular spring-fed waterfalls (Wangi, Florence, Tolmer), magnetic termite mounds, and swim-friendly plunge pools — a complete contrast to the city.
A cruise up the Adelaide River (about 60 km east of Darwin) where wild saltwater crocodiles launch out of the water for dangling meat. Raw, unforgettable, and quintessentially Top End.
