Getting Ashore

Most ships dock at the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal (BPIT), a modern five-storey complex with immigration, ATMs, Wi-Fi, and a tourist info desk.

Getting Into the City

  • 1
Walk to Busan StationA pedestrian deck from BPIT leads to Busan Station in about 10–15 minutes (roughly 1 km). From there, Subway Line 1 connects you to the whole city.
  • 2
Free Shuttle BusWhen cruise traffic is heavy, Busan Port often runs a free shuttle to Nampo-dong and Busan Station — confirm at the terminal information desk on arrival.
  • 3
TaxiTaxis queue outside BPIT. Expect ₩25,000–₩40,000 to central Busan. Ride-hailing via KakaoT app works well and drivers can see a map pin — handy without Korean.
  • 4
Yeongdo Terminal (mega-ships)If your ship docks at Yeongdo, it's not walkable to the city. Cruise lines typically run shuttles to Nampodong or Busan Station subway — confirm with your ship.

💡 Pro move: Download Naver Map or KakaoMap before you go — Google Maps directions are unreliable in South Korea.

Piers & Tendering by Cruise Line

Busan operates two cruise piers; most ships use BPIT, with Yeongdo reserved for mega-ships and overflow.

Insider Tips

  • 🗺️
Use Naver Map, not Google. Google Maps gives poor walking/transit directions in Korea. Download Naver Map or KakaoMap before you sail.
  • 💳
Cards are widely accepted in restaurants, convenience stores, and shops — but carry some Won for Jagalchi market stalls and smaller street vendors.
  • 🚇
The subway is brilliant. A T-Money card (buy at any station) works on subway and buses. Single fare is ₩1,400–1,800 — far cheaper than taxis.
  • ☀️
Summer heat and humidity are intense June–August. Carry water, plan indoor stops (markets, temples), and pace yourself.
  • 🍜
Try dwaeji-gukbap — Busan's signature pork and rice soup, eaten for breakfast by locals. Any 국밥 restaurant near Nampo will have it for under ₩10,000.

Getting Around

Transport options from the pier — taxis, shuttles, transit passes, and whether ride-share apps work here.
