From the Rhine embankment, walk up Rheinstraße past the Rhine Gate (Rheintor) to the Marktplatz, continue up to St. Stephen's Minster for the views, then loop back via the Radbrunnenturm tower and the Blaues Haus (Blue House) memorial.
Head south along the Rhine embankment path to the Rheinbrücke, cross into France (no passport control needed for EU), and walk through Vogelgrun to Volgelsheim. Continue about 1.5 km further to the star-shaped ramparts of Neuf-Brisach if time allows.
