Insider Tips

  • 🚌
Shuttle is your lifeline. The pier is 3–4 km from town in an industrial area — wait for the free ship-provided shuttle rather than walking along the port road.
  • 💳
Forget cash — Denmark is almost cashless. Cards (Visa/Mastercard) are accepted everywhere, including street food stalls. Ensure your card has a 4-digit PIN.
  • Vor Frue Kirke is free and unmissable. Open daily ~9 AM–4 PM; access may be restricted during services. Even 30 minutes inside this 800-year-old treasure is well worth it.
  • 🌬️
Dress in layers. Even in summer, wind off the Great Belt can be brisk. A light windproof jacket makes harbour and peninsula walks much more comfortable.
  • 🚆
Copenhagen or Roskilde are easy day trips. Kalundborg Station is a 10-minute walk from the church. Roskilde is ~45 min by train; Copenhagen ~1h 15 min — feasible on a long call.
